With almost all menu items $5 or less, Bodega N. 5 (638 S. Michigan Ave., 312-542-3605) may be cheap, but it's certainly chic. We're not surprised, considering the brand-new eatery is located in the downstairs lounge of the super sexy and delish Mercat a la Planxa in the historic Blackstone Hotel. During the morning and afternoon hours, Bodega serves up street-style fare starting at the ripe hour of 6:30 a.m.  We're talking items like a peppers and onion bocadillo made with roasted bell peppers, caramelized onion, mahon cheese, and egg —  buh-bye humdrum oatmeal! And if you're on the run, you can take your food and coffee to go. Now won't you be the envy of the office?

If you're not a breakfast person, Bodega offers hot and cold Spanish-style fare, such as egg salad flatbread (anchovy, pickled guindillas, and salbitxada) and ensalada verde (arugula, spinach, avocado, mahon cheese, and piquillo vin) for lunch. If you're looking for a new after work and late night desto, the casual dining atmosphere turns lounge like (think low lighting, appropriate tunes) after 5 p.m. Thursday through Saturday (closed Sunday and Monday.) Here you'll find tradish tapas-style dishes, like cured meats, cheeses, and olive assortments, as well as some of the modern Catalan items (patatas bravas anyone?) from Mercat's dinner menu. Wash it all down with a seasonally inspired sangria, Spanish-inspired cocktails, beer, or wine, which is all available for $5 or less  — dangerously delicious.
