This week marks the launch of an awesome new local business, the Chicago Beer Experience. The concept is a home run for any beer fan. A trained guide will take groups of 18 people on walking tours, teaching you about the history of brews in Chicago and in general (did you know beer has been around for 10,000 years?). You'll also learn about specific beers that you'll taste at several establishments, including many off-the-beaten-path bars. The three-hour tours run most Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays and start in Lincoln Park and Lakeview. Those of you worried about the combo of exercise and slight alcoholic excess (tastings add up to about four beers), don't: you'll only walk about a half a mile in total. Beer tasting is included in the ticket price ($54), all tours should be booked in advance, and private tours are available. One tip: come with a full stomach as the tours only provide very limited food. And you'll need a base to truly enjoy all that beer without becoming "that girl" on the tour.
