Gaztro-Wagon Food Truck in Chicago
Gourmet Grub on the Go at the Gaztro-Wagon

Meals on wheels have officially become one the year's hottest culinary trends. While Simple Sandwich, Meatyballs, and Happy Bodega are some of the newest food trucks to hit the streets, the Gaztro-Wagon is still our fave. Chef-owner Matt Maroni serves up an inventive, delicious selection of gourmet "naan-wiches," named for oven-baked Indian flatbread that serves as the sandwich vehicle. Inside that perfect wrapping, you'll find fillings like wild boar with blue cheese and date jam; warm lobster salad with pancetta and arugula pesto; and butternut squash with sage, marscapone, and hazelnuts. Gaztro-Wagon's salty-sweet homemade plantain chips are the perfect accompaniment to the sandwiches, and if you still have room, the homemade oatmeal creme pies are a fitting finale. If the wagon doesn't park near your home or office (you can follow it on Twitter to find out where it will be each day), head to the storefront at 5973 N. Clark St. to pick up a naan-wich whenever the urge strikes.
