Healthy Spot FUL Opens in Lakeview
Monday Detox: Lakeview's New FÜL
When you paint "a passion for food, fitness, and the environment" on your restaurant wall, you better be able to back it up, and at brand-new Lakeview restaurant FÜL (3310 N. Broadway St., 773-525-0240), they certainly do. The eatery is all about good-for-you eats and promoting an active, socially responsible way of life. Healthy, locally grown and sourced foods, an on-site nutritionist, and compostable and recyclable packaging materials and eating utensils are all part of the FÜL (pronounced fuel) philosophy, but, don't worry, the spot doesn't sacrifice flavor.

The sandwiches, paninis, and salads populating the menu certainly don't sound like rabbit food (though a menu legend will guide you to veggie, low-carb, and high-protein options). The Cabo Fresco salad features pecans, scallion, avocado, feta, and lime cilantro dressing, and the prosciutto and fig panini and grilled eggplant and fresh mozzarella sandwich are totally making my mouth water. Add in make-you-own smoothies, homemade condiments and dressings, and kid-friendly options, and you have a spot that's healthy but also accessible. And you'll have plenty of chances to fuel up: FÜL's open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Friday and 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. on weekends.
