Newsweek Calls Chicago Hip and Hot
Newsweek Calls Us America's Hottest City . . . Duh

I'm not so crazy about the "finally" in the headline, "The Second City is finally hip," but the sentiment stated in the latest Newsweek holds. We have a new, edgy mayor in Rahm Emanuel, and suddenly Chicago is looking pretty cool. "From a music scene powered by the underground footwork energy of juke to adventurous three-star restaurants, high-stepping fashion, and hot artists, Chicago is not only 'the city that works,' in Mayor Daley’s slogan, but also an exciting, excited city in which all these glittery worlds shine," says writer Raymond Solokov, and all I have to say, is "thanks for finally noticing!" Solkov names locals Mellody Hobson, the president of Ariel Investments and girlfriend of George Lucas (shown above); Desiree Rogers, the former White House social secretary turned Johnson Publishing CEO; Andrew Mason, the founder and CEO of Groupon; fashion guru Ikram Goldman; chef Grant Achatz and restaurants Takashi and Schwa; and Wicker Park's RSVP Gallery, a museum/store apparently founded by Chicagoan Kanye West (news to me) as some of Chicago's hip and hot. So who and what do you think makes Chicago the coolest city in the US? Leave me a comment below and let me know.
