Nov. 29-Dec. 1: Glitter: A Holiday Shopping event comes to the Chicago Cultural Center (78 E. Washington St., 312-744-6630) from 11 a.m. to 8 pm. on Tuesday and Wednesday. Gifts, accessories, and clothing from local artists and designers including Jules, Michelle Tan, and Objets D'Envy.

Dec. 2: Sheffield's (3258 N. Sheffield Ave., 773-281-4989) hosts Books & Beer: Holiday Shopping Night from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Bestselling local authors Laura Caldwell, David Ellis, and Gillian Flynn sell and sign copies of their books.

Dec. 3: First Fridays at the MCA (220 E. Chicago Ave., 312-397-4010) is one of the best happy hours in town. At this month's event, Holidaze (6 to 10 p.m.), enjoy signature cocktails, free Wolfgang Puck appetizers, music from DJs Duke Shin and Nate Manic, and a scavenger hunt through the galleries. The first 200 guests receive gift bags full of treats from Yogaview, Links of London, and Andy's frozen custard. Tickets ($13-$18) available here.
