It's been a while since I've fallen in love with a shop to the point of wanting to move in and make it my home, but that's just the feeling I get from brand-new Bucktown pop-up Vintage Smith (2041 North Damen Ave.), located next door to another one of my faves, Roslyn. Full of rugged, all-American vintage classics for men, women, and even kids including flannel shirts, jean jackets, leather boots, and satchels, the shop looks like the kind of place a young Ralph Lauren would have loved, and lo and behold, owner Matt Smith is a former RL employee. Smith spent years shopping flea markets all over to create the shop's collection of classic denim from Levi's and Wrangler, vintage Frye boots, Woolrich cardigans, and the kind of worn-in tees that Urban Outfitters made a fortune trying to replicate.

On Friday, Apartment Number 9 (1804 N. Damen Ave., 773-395-2999) is celebrating its 10th anniversary in the most amazing way: by transforming into a Rag & Bone pop-up shop-in-shop. Starting Nov. 18, almost the whole Bucktown store will become a Rag & Bone holiday store, selling men's and a few women's holiday items, including shoes, bags, clothing, and accessories. I recommend arriving early since the first weekend the shop is open, you'll receive 20 percent off all Rag & Bone purchases!

Damen Avenue is one of my favorite places to shop and eat, and now there are three new reasons to hit up Bucktown's hottest street.
Vividbraille Studio Boutique (2064 N. Damen Ave.; shown above) is an "impossible to categorize" concept store; owner Brock Willsey refers to his brand as "intelligent and metaphoric," whatever that means.

The unique boutique-meets-gallery is always filled with items that are just guaranteed to increase your cool factor, but this season, it's also home to some exclusive merchandise you need to know about.

While I could never tire of the usual beauty treatments, I'm loving the unique concept of Bucktown spa ENER (1702 N. Damen Ave., 773-278-4700). Though the chic space opened in May, I was only recently introduced and was so blown away by the originality and luxury, I couldn't resist sharing.

When I first moved to Chicago almost eight years ago (my how time flies), Damen Avenue was already a great place to shop — if you were in the know about independently owned shops like p.45 and Tangerine — still two of my favorite places to shop. Over the past few years, however, the street has become a hub for independently minded, but big-time designers, including Chicago native Cynthia Rowley and Marc Jacobs, the man who started the trend with his Damen Avenue Marc by Marc shop (shown below). While, thankfully, the indie shops still exist, Bucktown's busiest blocks are now just as known for its big-brand shops as it is for its freewheeling vibe.
