New-to-Chicago service Door to Door Organics offers home and office delivery of organic fruits and vegetables, straight from the farm. "We've developed smart systems for getting the freshest possible organic produce from the farm to the consumer, so we can offer a high quality product. We've also developed one of the easiest-to-use, web-based ordering systems in the country, so it's easy for customers to customize their order, have some fun, and get more information about their food," says Door to Door president Chad Arnold. Order produce boxes and groceries from local farms and companies including Goodness Greeness, Manna Organics, Metropolis Coffee Company, and Conscious Cup. Choose one of three sizes of produce boxes (mixed, all fruit, or all veggie) and customize your box to fit your needs. A typical Winter "bitty" box includes romaine lettuce, cauliflower, carrots, red potatoes, acorn squash, yellow bell pepper, tangerines, Fuji apples, navel oranges, avocado, and D'Anjou pears. Customers can substitute or add items to their boxes and set personal preferences. "Chicago is a health-conscious, earth-conscious, food-savvy town that understands the importance of growing and eating organic," Arnold says.

Monday Detox: Green Corner Opens in Bucktown

If you're just not buying that this season should be all about cookies and candy canes (aka sugar and calorie bombs), new Bucktown juice bar and detox center Green Corner (1880 N. Damen Ave., 773-292-4393) is your go-to spot. Full of organic goodness, Green Corner opens its doors tomorrow and is serving up everything a health-conscious gal could possible want: locally sourced, seasonal fruit and vegetable juices, smoothies, organic coffee, Bleeding Heart Bakery organic pastries and baked goods, and organic sandwiches, salads, and soups.

Owned by sisters Colleen and Elizabeth Murzyn, both certified yoga instructors, Green Corner will also offer a half-dozen juice cleanses designed to help you lose weight and reboot your system. If you haven't tried a juice cleanse, this is a great place to start since the sisters will be on hand to walk you through the juicing process.

Much like BluePrintCleanse, Green Corner's cleanses will consist of six bottles per day - mostly green juice with add-ins like carrots, beets, and ginger to mix it up, plus almond milk to add additional protein. The juices will be approximately $90 per day, and for now, you'll pick them up at the store, though delivery services will come down the line. The Murzyns recommend cleansing anywhere from one to seven days. Who needs eggnog when you have almond milk?
